A.G.M. Proposals Details
GENTS INDIVIDUALS AND PAIRS FINALS
Joe Palfreyman (Claremont) beat Mick Thomas (Glasshouse) in the final of the gents
individuals. Joe had beaten Sean Thomas (Connerty's) while Mick had beaten Richie
Waterhouse (St Teresa's) in the earlier semi finals. On the night Joe played well
and fully deserveed the title.
In the Pairs Stevie Broomfield and Paul Hourihan (Walton S.C.) beat Joe Palfreyman
and Dave Farrington (Claremont) to reclaim the pairs title they won two years ago. In
the semi finals Steve and Paul had received a bye into the final while Joe and Dave
had a more difficult path to the the final beating Stephen Bunting Jnr and Steve Long
(St Agnes) in a very close match which could have gone either way.
LADIES INDIVIDUALS AND PAIRS FINALS
It was a family affair in the Ladies individuals final with mother Jan Hardman and
daughter Heather Hardman, both from the Vinebrook, pitched against each other. Mother
took the final 2 - 1 having lost the first leg. Rumours that she told daughter that
she would have to walk home if she won are untrue :>)
Both semi finals were close fought matches with Jan edging out Jo Mannion (Vinebrook)
and Heather narrowly beating Vickie Gerrard (Newstead).
In the Ladies Pairs Mary McGovern and Karen O'Connor (VIiebrook) beat Angie Badrock and
Jane Sutherland (Masons) in a very tense final. Losing semi finalists Vickie Gerrard
and Joanne Arthur (Newstead) and Sue Cocklin and Helen Moran (Fogherty's) all had
chances to take their match but suffered on closing out their matches with finishing
doubles.
All details of Finals winners can be found on the "FINALISTS" or "Honours" tabs

GENTS PRESIDENTS CUP AND CHARLIE FROST FINALS
In the final of the Presidents Cup St Agnes narrowly beat Claremont 5-4 in a match
that went to the final game. Congratulations to St Agnes on completing a league
and cup double.
Honours also went to St Agnes in the Charlie Frost competition with Stephen Bunting
Jnr beating Richie Waterhouse from St Teresa's. The semi finals and finals on the
night were of a very high standard and I'm sure most people who were there would
agree a pleasure to witness.
LADIES KNOCK-OUT CUP FINAL
Vinebrook retained the Knock-Out Cup to go with the other two trophies they have
successfully retained this year. They beat Wellington 4-1 in the final.

a game that could have gone either way.

Wellie All Stars.

MIXED PAIRS FINAL
The first competition final of the season was held on Tuesday 8th May at the Newstead.
Congratulations to Angie Badrock and Mick Brooks who beat Karen Mannion and Paul
Hourihan in the final of the mixed pairs. In the Semi Finals Angie and Mick beat Karen
O'Connor and Dave Hughes while Karen and Paul beat Jan Hardman and Gary Chan. Having
been in six of the last seven finals this was Angie and Micks fourth title and on the
night they played the more consistent darts and deserved their victory.

At the Bottom Anglesea and Newstead "B" are relegated.
SECTION "A" CHAMPIONS - ST TERESA'S

League
St Agnes are only two wins away from claiming the Premier League title, Walton
can only watch and hope that somebody beats St Agnes to force a playoff.
In the "A" section St Teresa's have toppled Wellie All Stars off the top of the
table. After leading all season Wellie were soundly beaten by St Teresa's to lose
their top spot. With a game in hand St Teresa's look to be favourites.
In the Ladies Section Vinebrook are almost home and dry and need to win three more
games to finish top. Newstead, who were bottom for most of the season are now in
with a chance of taking second place.

Happy New Year to all our members
League
In the Gents Premier Section St Agnes beat Claremont 8 - 1 to effectively remove
any chance of Claremont challenging for the top place. Walton continue to chase
but time may be running out. At the bottom, barring a miracle, it looks like
Newstead “B” will take the wooden spoon.
In the "A" section its becoming "Squeaky Bum" time. Wellie All Stars lead at the
top of the section appears to be evaporating before their eyes. With two games in
hand St Teresa’s could close the gap at the top to just two points and put pressure
on the All Stars who have now lost three out of their last four games. You can’t
rule out Ship and Mitre “B” who also have a game more to play and with the top
teams all still to play each other one last time it could all change.
Competitions
The draws for the Gents Presidents Cup and Ladies Knock-Out cup will be made at the
league meeting. Details will be posted on this site on Wednesday 11th January.

Apologies for the late update - I've been waiting on a number of results.
Gents
In the Premier Section St Agnes maintain their four point advantage over Walton
with a hard fought win over Newstead "A",winning the last game after trailing 3-1.
At the same time Walton were comfortably beating Newstead "B" by 7-2 while joint
second placed Claremont were losing 5-4 to Abbey Road.
In the "A" section there was a rare defeat for Wellie All Stars who were beaten
by local rivals Cuffs. This means the All Stars now only have six point cushion,
will this be enough ? is it "squeaky bum" time ? The next nine games could be
interesting.

King beat Glasshouse. Ship & Mitre "B" continue their good form to move into third
place on same points as Glasshouse.

with St Agnes now clear by two points from Walton having played the same number of
matches. Claremont themselves are now only four points behind the leaders.

against Walton next they have a chance to close the gap.
In the "A" Section with Ship "B" beating Christ The King the Wellie All Stars have
stretched their gap to a virtually unassailable 10 points leaving six teams to battle
for second place.
Ladies League
The surprises continue in the Ladies league as Vinebrook suffer their second defeat in
as many matches. They have now lost four matches this season which equals the total
number of matches they have lost over the last TWO seasons. Fogherty's who could have
gone joint top were beaten by the rejuvenated Newstead Ladies team who have now moved

with Newstead Ladies who recorded their second win in succession with a shock win

the gap on Walton S.C. to four points.
In the "A" Section Wellie All Stars returned to winning ways after last week's slip up

ways beating Abbey Road while Newstead "B" remain rooted to the foot of the

In the "A" Section Wellie All Stars suffer their first defeat of the season to
Clubmoor Cons but still have the benefit of a six point lead. Ship & Mitre "B"
are quietly moving up the section while last years Premier teams are all finding
it difficult to put any sort of winning run together.
Ladies

Gents

hanging on but Claremont suffered a setback against Newstead "A".
In the "A" Section Wellie All Stars have already opened up a massive gap of eight
points over the nearest teams. Could the race for the top spot already be over ?
Ladies
At the top of the table last year's runners up Fogherty's defeated last year's
champions Vinebrook to close within two points with a game in hand. At the other
end of the table in the battle of the bottom clubs Wellington beat Newstead to
leave them firmly rooted to the foot of the table.

Gents
With the top of the table clash between Walton Social Club and Claremont called
off St Agnes seized the opportunity to go joint top beating Newstead "B" who
remain rooted to the bottom of the Premier section. Newly promoted Connerty's
are beginning to look good with three wins on the trot to take them to mid table.
In the "A" Section Wellie All Stars continue their good run and are now starting
