ARCHIVE NEWS 2010 - 2011 SEASON

June 7th - FINAL COMPETITION RESULTS
Last night saw the last of the competition finals. In the pairs competition Eddie Morgan
and Alan Brown from Bradley's regained the gent's pairs title beating team mates Phil
Brooks and Tom Jones in the final. They narrowly beat John and Alex Salisbury from Riley's
in the first semi final with Phil and Tom beating Gary Swaine and Kevin Johnson from the
Glasshouse in the other semi.

In the Gent's Individuals Tommy Laird from McGinty's claimed the title beating Mark Rice
of the Claremont in the final after beating Paul Hourihan of Bradley's in the semi. Mark
had previously beaten Steve Broomfield of Bradley's in the other semi final.

The night also saw the final of the secretaries competition with Kevin Cain from the
Glasshouse beating Martyn Brougham from Ship & Mitre "B" to claim the title.

Congratulations to all the competition winners.

PLEASE NOTE - the next L.O.D.L. league meeting is on Tuesday 14th June at 7.30pm and will
be held at the NEWSTEAD on Smithdown Road. Some teams have not handed in
their registration for the 2011-2012 season, this league meeting will be the
LAST chance to register for the new season.

May 24th - BRADLEY'S WIN PRESIDENT'S CUP
The draw for the semi-finals of the President's Cup paired a team from the Premier
against a team from the "A" section in each semi-final. True to form the Premier
teams won their matches with Bradley's beating Riley's 5 - 1 and McGinty's beating
Newstead "B" by the same score.
The final between Bradley's and McGinty's started with a nine dart game by Ian McNeil
of McGinty's (66, 140, 95) to put McGinty's into an early lead, however Bradley's then
responded with three straight games to go 3 - 1. McGinty's themselves took the next
two games to level the match at 3 - 3 but that was to be as near as they would get to
winning the cup as Eddie Morgan put Bradley's 4 - 3 into the lead followed by a ten
dart game (152, 85, 48, D8) from Mick Brooks to clinch the match for Bradley's.

May 18th - MORE COMPETITION FINALS
On Monday (16th) the final of the Gents 5-a-side produced a surprise result with Queen of
Martyrs taking the ultimate prize. Queen of Martyrs had beaten the Ship and Mitre "A" 3 - 0
in the semi finals and took a close fought final 3 - 2 against St Agnes who themselves had
beaten Bradleys "B" in their semi-final.

On Tuesday (17th) Vinebrook retained the Ladies knock-out cup beating Fogherty's in the final
after earlier knocking out Sweeney's in the semi-final. In the other semi-final Fogherty's beat
Wellington when Wellington had insufficient players to complete the match.

In the Ladies Individuals the two players from the Newstead were drawn against each other in
the semi-final with Dawn Forrestal narrowly beating Vickie Gerrard 2 - 1, the match hinged on
missed doubles. In the other semi-final Jan Hardman from the Vinebrook beat Eileen Buchanan
from Sweeney's. Jan went on to beat Dawn in the final 2 - 0 with Dawn unable to reproduce her
scoring from the semi. This means that the individuals have been won by a player from the same
team for the last eleven years with this being the third time Jan has won the title.

Congratulations to the latest round of competition winners.

May 15th - MORE COMPETITION FINALS
On Monday (9th) Bradley's "B" added the 3-a-side competition to their league title. In
the first semi-final Claremont beat St Teresa's with Bradley's beating Connerty's Bar
in the second semi-final. Bradley's then went on to beat Claremont in the final.

On Tuesday (10th) there was a surprise in the Ladies Pairs Final with Sylvia Crellin and
Lorna Ferguson from the Wellington beating the favourites Jan Hardman and Joyce Brown
from the Vinebrook. First losing semi-finalists were Sylvia Power and Lyn Harrison from
the Deysbrook beaten by Sylvia and Lorna. Sandie Gibson and Michelle Jones from the
Vinebrook were beaten by their team mates Jan and Joyce in the second semi-final.

In the Ladies 5-a-side, also played on Tuesday, Newstead "A" beat Wellington in the first
semi-final and Vinebrook beat Fogherty's "A" in the second semi. The final proved to be a bit
of an anti-climax with Vinebrook winning easily 3 - 0.

Congratulations to the latest round of competition winners.
May 15th - A.G.M.
At the A.G.M. held on Tuesday 10th May the committee were re-elected en-bloc.

The only proposal at the meeting was that the secretaries competitions, currently run as
a knock-out competition, be replaced by a joint captains/secretaries competition to be
run on a league basis through the season. This was passed unanimously. Further details
of the competition will be published nearer the start of the season.

In the Secretaries competition Annie received a bye in the first semi-final as Lena Arthur
from The Newstead was unable to attend due to illness. In a closely contested semi-final

either way. Karen beat Dot 2 - 1 yet in the leg she lost she scored 121 followed by 135.

The champions in all three divisions are now confirmed. Congratulations to Bradley's,
Connerty's and Vinebrook Ladies.

In the Premier Section St Agnes are now confirmed as runners-up after Claremont's
defeat by Newstead "A".

In the Gents "A" Section its very tight after Newstead "B" suffered a 9 - 0 whitewash
in their final game of the season at the hands of champions Connerty's. Liver Vaults
now need to win their last game to force a play-off with Newstead "B" for second place.

In the Ladies Section Fogherty's need one more win from their remaining two games to
take second spot. If they fail in both matches Sweeney's still have a chance of forcing
a playoff.

A further New tab "FINALISTS" has appeared at top of the page - this will show all
the known competition finalists so far.

March 24th
Apologies for not updating the site for a couple of weeks.

In the Premier section Bradley's are almost home in first place but mathematically
can still be caught however this would need them to lose all three of their remaining
games. In the battle for second place St Agnes came out on top in the match against
Claremont which now puts them four points ahead with two games left to play.

In "A" Section congratulations to Connerty's who are now champions after their win
against Ship & Mitre "A". Third placed Liver Vaults beat Newstead "B" and are now two
points behind the Newstead with one game left to play.

In the Ladies section congratulations also go to Vinebrook who have finally clinched
the title with three games to spare. Fogherty's are still in prime position to claim
second place while four teams are battling for third.

There are a number of outstanding results in the following competitions:-

Gent's Secretaries
Gents 5-a-side
Ladies Pairs
Ladies 5-a-side
Mixed Pairs

See the relevant competition tab and if you know any of the results can you text them
to me as soon as possible on the number at the top of this page.

March 14th
Vinebrook stretch their lead at the top of the Ladies section by beating second
placed Fogherty's 7 - 0. Wellington return to winning ways with a 7 - 0 thumping
of Newstead who appear to be in free fall.

March 3rd
All turn round in Ladies Section as Newstead and Wellington each suffer another
defeat which means that Sweeney's leap frog into third place. Fogherty's maintain
their gap between themselves and third place and are looking favourites to take
runners up spot. Meanwhile Vinebrook march relentlessly on to yet another title.

On a much sadder note I have news that most people are probably already aware of,
and that is that Alan Jennion, a long standing member of our darts league plus many
other leagues around the city, sadly passed away recently after a long illness. For
those who are interested and would like to pay their last respects a service will
be held at 2.00pm on Monday 7th March at Good Shepherd Church on Lowerhouse Lane,
Croxteth. Alan will be laid to rest at Anfield Cemetery at 3.00pm.

February 22nd
I have to own up to a cock up with the President's Cup. The prelim round should have
been in blocks, unfortunately I didn't do that. This means I have to fit another date
before the finals. Therefore the next round is scheduled to be played on 25th April.
The draw was made on Monday 21st February by two players from the Claremont and is :-

Riley's v Ship and Mitre "A"
Bradley's v St Agnes
McGinty's v St Teresa's
Newstead "B" v Barely Mow

I apologise for the inconvenience this may cause.

Most of the results from this weeks Gents and Ladies Pairs are now on the website.

February 17th
Connerty's need to win one of their remaining two games to be crowned "A" section
champions. Newstead "B" also need one win from their two remaining games to finish
as runners-up, however their two games are against first placed Connerty's and
third placed Liver Vaults, are they strong enough to do it ?

February 14th
All 3-a-side results are now in. The committee are extremely disappointed that some
teams are not bothering to turn up. People like this destroy any attempt to get
interest going in darts. The whole idea behind the 3-a-side was to get people out
playing at times when they may no longer be in competitions and to get players from
different teams together at the same venue. By not turning up they ruin it for the
rest of the teams who have made the effort. If the competition is to be run next year
we will seriously have to look at fining teams who don't turn up for a block fixture.

Correction to score in the Ladies Section - Wellington beat St Cyril's in the league
match getting revenge for their defeat by the same team the previous week in the Ladies
Knock-Out cup.

To all you romantics have a Happy Velentine's night - what better way to treat your
loved one than to take her out and let her enjoy the entertainment of your Monday
night darts match and post match meal (butties !!).

February 2nd - CLAREMONT and CONNERTY'S CRASH OUT OF CUP
In the President's cup Claremont were knocked out by St Teresa's. Bradley's, McGinty's
and St Agnes complete the four through from the Premier Section. From "A" section
Connerty's suffer a surprise defeat to Barley Mow, Newstead "B" beat the Liver Vaults
to go through and Riley's and Ship & Mitre "A" make up the four from the section.

In the Ladies Knock Out cup Sweeney's knocked out Newstead. Vinebrook and Fogherty's
safely get through to next round. Still waiting on last result between Wellington and
St Cyril's.

January 26th
In the Premier Bradley's continue to set the pace at the top and are within one game
of retaining their title. Claremont lose to McGinty's to fall two points behind
St Agnes making their up and coming head to head even more crucial. At the bottom
Clubmoor defeat of Christ The King puts them in with a chance of climbing off the
bottom.

In "A" Section Connerty's are close to finishing winners and it looks like a win in
their final match of the season versus Newstead "B" will clinch the top spot.

In the Ladies section Foghery's maintain their challenge with a win over St Cyril's.
Newstead beat Sweeney's to keep them on the tail of Fogherty's while lower down
Eldonians remain rooted to the bottom of the table.

The draws for Gents and ladies Individuals and Secretaries competitions are now on

Gents Premier Section - Bradley’s continue to dominate with Claremont and St Agnes
fighting for the leftovers. With only seven games left to play it looks like the
title will be going to Bradley’s for the fifth year in a row (including 3 years as
Prince Leopold)

Gents “A” Section - Connerty’s look set to make an immediate return to the Premier
Section after increasing their lead at the top following Newstead’s recent slip against
Ship & Mitre “B”. Liver Vaults are fighting with Newstead for the one remaining
guaranteed promotion place

Ladies Section - Vinebrook look on course for their 10th title in 11 years after the
teams immediately below them in the league continue to falter. The main fight is now
for second place. With 11 games left there are plenty of points left to be fought over.

December 9th
No surprises in the league this week with top four teams in the Premier Section all
winning to maintain their positions. In the "A" Section Connerty's game was postponed

close for second place but there are a number of missing results which makes it
difficult to assess the exact positions, can secretaries please ensure that they send
the results as early as possible.

Correction to the list of players for the 3-a-side given out at the meeting. In group B
it shows St Agnes "A" in the fixtures but in the list of players for that group it shows
St Agnes "C" - it should read as St Agnes "A" on the list of players. The details on this
website have been corrected appropriately.

Will all secretaries remind their players that ALL games must be played in the 3-a-side
